The Appalachian State ROTC program hosted its annual Dining Out on March 20th, presenting the Cadets with a chance to learn how formal Army events are conducted. Former App State Cadet and Alumni, Major Sean Callahan (2012), attended the Dining Out as the event's guest speaker, telling the Cadets of his experiences after his own time at App. MAJ Callahan is a Special Forces Company Commander and advised the Cadets to enjoy the now and not reach too much for the next milestone, to the point that you lose appreciation for the here and now. He also stated that effective leaders get “buy-in” from their Soldiers. Soldiers don’t follow the rank but rather the character of a leader.

This event also marked the final day in the career of now-retired SFC Andrew Browne, who has helped lead the App State ROTC program since 2022. His hard work within the program cannot be understated, and he was honored for all he has done at the end of the ceremony.
