ROTC's Scabbard and Blade Club Supports ASU Women's Basketball Play4Kay

Play4Kay originated in 2007 when NC State women's basketball coach, Kay Yow, battled breast cancer. It was her vision that the Play4Kay fund would bring together coaches, players, and others to do, "something for the greater good that far exceeds the wins or losses of the court." The National Honors Society of Scabbard & Blade, which is an ROTC community service club, particpates in this event each year and has helped to carry on Coach Kay's legacy. During an Appalachian State's women's basketball game, Cadets log miles on stationary bikes. The more miles biked, the more funds are donated to the Kay Yow cancer fund. This year we had twenty Cadets rotate through the bikes in the Convocation center. We logged a total of 263.47 miles and Appalachian State had a great game! "It's PT for a cause bigger than ourselves," said one of our Cadets; Brendan Counts. This event is success in part because of the support of the devoted and enthusiastic Mountaineer Battalion Cadets! -Cadet Hannah Godfrey
