Fifteen to Serve and Lead

The Appalachian State University Reserve Officers' Training Corps held its Commissioning Ceremony on Thursday Evening 9 May at the Endzone Facility in Kidd Brewer Stadium. Fifteen Cadets took their Oath of Office which confirms their admittance into the Army Officer Corps as Second Lieutenants. Two will serve in the North Carolina National Guard, One in the Army Reserve, and Eleven on Active Duty. Another received an Educational Delay for further medical studies. Seven other Officers will join them in early Fall.

The new Second Lieutenants:

Robert Adams branched Chemical Corps in the Army Reserves. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History, and Social Studies Education. Kolby Baker branched Active Duty Ordnance and is a pre-select for Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Drake Elliott branched Active Duty Ordnance and is a pre-select for EOD school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Annie Forgrave branched Active Duty Engineer. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.  Aidan Fox branched  Active Duty Nursing. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Allie Hollis will be commissioning into the North Carolina National Guard in the Engineer Branch. She has earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting with a minor in Business Analytics. Joey  Manganaro branched Active Duty Air Defense Artillery. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies. Karley O’Connell was granted an education delay to attend Elon University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with minors in Psychology, Nutrition, and Military Science and Leadership. Zachary Proenneke branched Field Artillery in the North Carolina National Guard. He is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Arieli Pruitt branched Active Duty Medical Services. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Cellular Molecular concentration. Quinn Rundgren branched Active Duty Infantry. He graduated with a Master's in Geography with a concentration in Planning. Ezekiel Scrivner branched Active Duty Infantry.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  Austin Smith branched Active Duty Military Intelligence. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Health Sciences. Corey  Snodgrass branched Active Duty infantry. He is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in History. David-Bryce Spain branched Active Duty Signal with a branch detail in Armor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management. Cameron Yauger branched Active Duty Transportation Corps. He graduated with a major in Psychology with a concentration in Business.

A Military Mountaineer Family! 2LT Allie Hollis is a fourth-generation Military Officer.  She was pinned by her father LTC (Ret) David Hollis, and mother, former CPT Melanie Hollis, each using one of their own 2LT gold bars. David and Melanie are App ROTC Alumni -Graduating and Commissioned in 1995. Keeping the Fire on the Mountain burning bright! (photo below)

 The Professor of Military Science, LTC Greene, administered the Commissioning Oath. A large gathering of Friends and Family were in attendance, as well as, Chancellor Heather Norris and original Cadre member (1969) Dick Parrot.
