ASU ROTC Scabbard and Blade Referee A Volunteer Event

On December 3rd, 2017, eight members of the Appalachian State ROTC Scabbard and Blade Club volunteered to help referee the 12th annual, “Santa vs Grinch Airsoft Game” at Command Decisions Wargames Center (A local Paintball and Airsoft field near Taylorsville, NC). Unlike most Airsoft games, all proceeds went to local charities and varied from: money, children’s toys, and articles of clothing.

The Scabbard and Blade Volunteers helped Command Decisions Wargames Center (CDWC) staff set up the field for the day’s events and games. Throughout the day they would communicate with one another to run, administer, and advise any changes made or issues brought up throughout the day. Through this, the 6 hour long game went notably smoothly with very little confusion or incidents. Trough this (and the accompanying Paintball game the day before) CDWC was able to collect over $1,000, 100 toys, and 600 articles of clothing. All these proceeds went directly to 800 local children who would otherwise have little to nothing this Christmas season.-- Cadet Chandler Case
