Lieutenant Jake McCollum

LT  McCollum was born in Buffalo, New York, grew up in Amherst, New York, and received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism/Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University in southwestern New York. He joined the Army in 2013 when he enrolled in ROTC courses at St. Bonaventure University, where he Commissioned with the completion of his degree into the Army Reserve as a Military Police Officer in May 2017.

LT  McCollum’s first assignment was to the 3-309th Combat Support Battalion as a Platoon Leader. In his civilian job he worked as a construction worker and armored truck guard before becoming the Senior Military Science Instructor (Contractor) at St. Bonaventure University and then transferred to Appalachian State University.  While at St Bonaventure, Mr. McCollum was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in the Army Reserve.

LT McCollum is a graduate of the Military Police Basic Officer Leader’s Course and his awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He resides in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
